Cooper Young Festival

Save the date for Saturday, September 19th! On that day, The MIFA Store will bring the store to the masses by having a booth at Cooper Young Festival.

Visit us at booth D55 in the First Congo parking lot near the corner of Walker and Blythe where we'll have a variety of items on display. We'll have an eclectic mix of new and used clothing, jewelry and funky household items for sell as well as coupons and other giveaways.

So make plans to stop by next Saturday, September 19th anytime between 9am-7pm to shop or just to say hey!

Price tagging continues

Tagging the clothes was such a hit that we extending it to shoes and books! Now every pair of shoes and all books are marked individually so that you never again have to wonder the price! The price tags look like this:

Shoes are all marked on the bottom of each shoe, like these:

Books are all marked on the upper, right side of the front of the book, like this:

And, like the clothes, any item without a tag or with a tag that looks to have been tampered with will not be sold.

Music and movies the next to be tagged
CDs, DVDs and other entertainment items are going to be tagged this week. To help us make that task easier, they are all on sale for $0.10 while supplies last!

All shoes $1, all books $0.10

We are trying to get out of doing work and you are benefiting! Like we said in the earlier post, we are marking EVERYTHING in the store with a price. In order for us to have less shoes and books to tag by the end of the week, we are having a major sale!

Now through Wednesday all shoes are just $1 and all books are $0.10.

We are making changes to provide you with a better shopping experience

Over the weekend The MIFA Store underwent a major change. Now all clothing is tagged with a price! No longer wonder how much that vest is. Never have to guess about the price of a dress. Now each item is marked individually with a price tag!! See:


Please note that any clothing item that does not have a price tag cannot be sold. If you see an item without a tag, please bring it to our attention so that it can be reprocessed.

All clothes are tagged now and by the end of the week we look to have all shoes and other merchandise tagged as well! We are trying to take the guesswork out of your shopping experience. Let us know what you think!

Inventory reduction sale
Friday, August 28th we will close at 12pm in order to implement a new and improved pricing and inventory system. In order to get ready, we are having a huge inventory reduction sale. All clothes (Boutique not included) are just $0.50! And, since used clothes have no tax, you can actually get two pieces of clothing for just $1! That's crazy.

Special Saturday hours
Saturday, August 29th we will be open from 9am-1pm. All of you who can't make it down during the week need to stop in that day! We'll have sales and free Nike gear to give away. You can also learn more about volunteering at MIFA. So mark your calendar to come shop, drop off donations or learn other ways you can help MIFA!

In honor of some recent acknowledgement of our great book selection, all books (including hardback, softback and children's) will be just 25 cents! Read what two shoppers have to say about our books here and here (pardon the language).

Now we are working on getting out all of the newly donated clothes in the new, more customer friendly layout. Once we are finished, all of the clothes will be hung by type (women's blouses, women's skirts, etc) and by size within each type!! We'll even have a rack dedicated solely to smart sizes (16/1X and up).

The MIFA Store staff is developing a new, more customer friendly pricing, sorting and sales plan. In order to roll it out, we have to get rid of LOTS and LOTS of clothes that we already have out on the racks. So, all clothes (excluding the Boutique) are .$50! That's right ALL CLOTHES: new, used, red X, no red X, they are all just $.50. AND, as always, there is no tax on used clothing so $.50 really is just $.50!

New law effects The MIFA Store

Due to a new law from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission regarding lead in children’s toys, effective February 10th, The MIFA Store will no longer accept or sell donations of used children’s toys.

There is a silver lining, though! Since we can’t sell ‘em, we are giving them away. Shop often between now and February 10th for your chance to score free children’s toys and stuffed animals.
