Despite the best efforts of store staff and MIFA administration, The MIFA Store was unable to overcome the blows of a crippled economy, and declining sales and donations led to the difficult decision to close the store on October 29.
MIFA is dedicated to fiscal responsibility, and, because the thrift store was no longer profitable, we were forced to turn our attention to more effective uses of our donors’ dollars. This new chapter in MIFA’s long life offers us exciting new opportunities in addition to a few challenges. We are grateful for the dedicated employees, Meritan staff, and Project WIT volunteers who made our store run smoothly.
In the absence of The MIFA Store, we ask that you consider giving to MIFA’s partner clothes closets, which are listed here. We also recommend donating your furniture, antiques, collectibles, and art to The Salvation Army.We appreciate your years of support for The MIFA Store.
